Emergency Information Site for Khimaira WebHosting Solutions customers.

November 7 9:30 AM  We believe all sites are now resolving.  Please let us know if you cannot reach your site. Please see information below about clearing your temporary internet files.  We will be working with you in the coming days to troubleshoot any issues you are finding after the migration.

November 6  9:30 AM  They have fixed the network issues from this morning.  Looks like at least 98% of sites are up and running fine.  Others are coming online shortly.

If you cannot reach your site, first try deleting your temporary internet files from your browser, as you may have the old "not found" page cached for your site where you may have checked previously.

To delete temporary files:  In Internet explorer: Go to Tools/Internet Options/Browsing history/delete/temporary internet files.  Then, close all browser windows and try again. If you are using other browsers, check their help link to find additional information.

You also may need to flush  the DNS records from your computer.  This is a little more complicated, Here is some additional information. You may want to have someone more experienced do this for you, if you are not comfortable doing this.

November 5    10:30 PM -
About 90% of the sites are up at this time.  Some sites are coming up with the IP address, and others can be reached with both IP and domain name.  This is apparently a DNS (domain name server) issue plus router issues that will hopefully be resolved soon. Email is working for most users as well.    Some might be able to access the site with FTP but not accessing it in their browser.

Thanks for bearing with us!  There are approximately 300,000 sites involved in this move, so there are many folks all waiting for this to be completed.  There are more than 100 engineers working on this.

November 4: The move itself has been completed.  We had the servers running for a brief time, but had to take them back down. There are several more steps that will take place within the coming hours.. Once the servers come  up,  remember that the loads will be tremendous as the mail servers begin processing mail that has been waiting in queue to be delivered.  If you could wait on any major uploading of files until tomorrow, that would be appreciated.  It will help us all and the servers' response time will be faster for all.  In the beginning, everything may not be immediately available, even if your site comes up.  This will be a normal process, and may take a while longer for things to all resolve properly.

The company processing this move has informed us there have been several  complications and that is why it has been taking much longer than they originally projected.  Even with weeks of planning and several trial test periods, sometimes even the best plans aren't adequate to meet the unknowns that technology can sometimes present.  I wish we could be more specific with an up time expectation, but we are waiting through this, just like you.   We've been up around the clock monitoring everything and staying in touch with the team of 100+ very skilled people working on this major project.  Will be ready for some sleep when this is finished!

We are very sorry for the inconveniences this has caused you.  This has been a long and hard process for us, and we know it has been frustrating for you as well.  The whole move involves more than 800 servers, and is very complex.

The new data center will have many new enhancements, once this all gets finalized...and we're hoping that is soon!!

Thank you for your continued patience!  We're happy that people are indeed using this emergency site to receive their news.  That is appreciated as it has meant we can spend time handling other pressing issues.  We've received some very nice and supportive notes from our customers...that means more than you can know!  Here's a note we wanted to share: "Thank you for all you do for your customers.  We know this is a hard time for you, but we are also very comfortable in knowing that you will do everything you can to make this as painless for us as you can.  If anyone calls complaining, tell them to consider taking a walk or reading a book or doing one of the many things we all did before the internet changed our lives.  Our electronic life will come back soon enough."

Thanks so much.

Scheduled Work: CHANGE OF TIME - PLEASE NOTE-CHANGE OF TIME

Migration of data to a new Network Operations Center:  We have adjusted it several times, and may need to adjust again.  There are many factors involved, and we need to have everything in place before beginning the move, to have the least down time.

This is a major data move to a new center, and to new servers.  We expect that it could take several hours to complete.   Thank you for your patience.  We will post updates as we have them.

As per our email announcement to our customers,  our Network Operations Center will  be relocating from Baltimore MD to a  new facility in Massachusetts. We will be moving for an array of reasons that include faster, more reliable connections to the Internet backbones, and new Sun server technology.

There may be  hours of down time during this process!

Impact: Web sites/email will not be accessible for a period of time within the maintenance window.
Action required: Your patience please!

Once the data has been transferred to our destination the IP addresses will be re-synchronized with the name servers. All IP addresses will remain the same, no changes on your part will be required. When the servers are back online, email that may have been sent to you during the down time will be delivered, and all server and website functionality will resume as normal.

 .
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation!
